Aviator Sports & Events Center

This past weekend I was given an opportunity to represent Mommyslinks and attend a special day with Andre at Aviator Sports & Events center. It is located at the Floyd Bennet Field on Flatbush avenue in Brooklyn, NY.
Floyd Bennet field is NYC's first municipal airport. It became known as the prime airport for experimental fliers who wanted to establish speed & distance records. This 170,000 sq ft decommissioned airport is massive upon entrance. Its Main Street houses the rock climbing wall, sky jump and leads to the food court, and indoor ice rink.
We were given a tour of the facility. This is an ideal place for sports fanatics. It has 2 basketball courts, indoor ice rink, 2 volleyball courts, turf fields, gym and a gymnastics arena. They also offer summer camps & a extended education program for children of all ages. Their goal is provide a healthy & active program. All staff members are licensed professionals. After our tour ended, we ate lunch in one of the 7 unique settings where your private events can be held & customized. We were also treated to the tunes by The Silly Dilly Band. What a quirky, high energy group! All the kids joined in the dancing and singing. Then the true fun began for the kids! We each were given a wristband that allowed us to use any of the activities. Each child was given time to play in the children's center which is like a small playroom where parents can drop off their children while either working out in the gym or playing hockey. After exerting some much energy, Andre was given the opportunity to do gymnastics for an 1 hour session. He learned to tumble, swing from a rope & hang from the parellal bar.
After his session, Andre wanted to do ice skating. It was freezing in there but there were tons of people enjoying themselves on the ice. I, not having the best coordination, convinced him that this wasn't the best idea so he opted for the sky jump! Its located on Main Street as well. Andre was harnessed and off he jumped! He had a blast with it.
If you're looking for a day of fun activities or even a camp for the summer that will get the kids moving I highly suggest Aviator Sports. It is a great facility that has so much to do that you'll never want to leave. There is on site parking which is a great plus. I only wish that there was a place as interactive in the city. It is a distance to get to but worth a day trip.
Thank you Mommyslinks & Aviator Sports!

This is my personal review. I was not compensated for it

Schwan's Home Delivery Review

Cooking is not my forte so when I won a prize from Mommyslinks for a family dinner I was beyond ecstatic!! I couldn't wait to heat up a meal for my family without having to actually cook.
I won a family meal by FRESCO by Scotto (Schwan's Home Delivery) It included a baked ziti, five cheese garlic french bread, MicroSteam baby broccoli florets and chocolate ice cream. My meal arrived in a Styrofoam cooler. Everything was still frozen and intact. This was going to be our Sunday night meal.
I pre-heated the oven at 375 degrees, placed the frozen baked ziti in the oven. After 30 minutes I removed the plastic layer completely & put it back in for 15 more minutes. At that point I put in the cheesy garlic bread as well. Fifteen minutes later we had our dinner.

The portion, I think, is perfect for 2 people. Luckily my son isn't a big pasta eater so he opted out but he did enjoy the bread. Hubby & I agreed that the ziti was tasty, and cheesy. The sauce wasn't sweet which I thought it would be. The pasta was cooked perfectly for it being frozen. He loved the bread. Right amount of cheese & garlic. The bread was soft & also didn't taste like a frozen food. The chocolate ice cream didn't taste as chocolaty as I would've liked it. It was very light in color. Since I'm a chocolate lover I would've preferred something richer.

All in all we had a great Sunday night dinner. Thank you Mommyslinks and Schwan's for feeding us!

Mars Needs Mom movie review

Movie is released on March 11,2011

I personally love taking Andre to see movies even though NYC ticket prices are outrageous. When I get the opportunity to catch a screening I jump on it! Thanks to http://www.mommyslinks.com/ I won passes to Disney's upcoming release Mars Needs Moms in 3D IMAX. How could you go wrong with a Disney film? With this one, Disney got it right!

This movie was engaging. As I was watching it I could relate to the mom and the son Milo reminded me of Andre. He is quick witted, comedic and just a typical kid who doesn't want to listen. Throughout the movie, Andre was mesmerized by its graphics and the action in the film. It held his attention which by my standards means its a great movie! In other films that we've seen, if Andre is bored he starts fidgeting in his seat and standing around having a full blast on conversation while everyone is shhhing us. The movie had great intense scenes and action. There were so many kids of all ages attending the screening. They all were paying attention.

I will admit I shed a few tears toward the end of the movie. If anyone knows me, I don't cry! Especially watching a movie! Mars Needs Moms really touched my heart & soul. This movie showed us how strong a mother & son's bond is despite their constant bickering. No one can break the love between Mother & child.

Kudos to Disney for creating such a heartfelt movie. This is definitely one to add to our movie collection!
