Check In with Hotel Transylvania

This past Saturday I was invited to a special screening of Hotel Transylvania. Andre & I have been eagerly awaiting the release of the movie. The trailers look hysterical!
Hotel Transylvania is a getaway for monsters and a safe haven built by Dracula for his daughter Mavis. Humans are not allowed! He hosts a yearly birthday bash for his daughter Mavis. This year is no exception as she turns 118, which in human years would be equivalent to the big 18th. Dracula's best friends, Mr. & Mrs. Frankenstein, the Mummy, the Invisible Man, the Werewolf family are preparing for the celebration, as a young human comes across the hotel. Throughout the movie, Dracula tries to keep "JohnnyStein" away from the monsters especially his daughter.

Dracula's over bearing nature reminds me of how much I want to protect my own son from the outside world. As much as we try, there is that day when they will want to leave the nest and discover it all. We can only try to prevent it from happening but c'mon who are we kidding? Its all part of life.
Hotel Transylvania is fun for the whole family. We laughed & even danced in our seats. As my son said, he loved the music the most! It did feel like a club with the electro beats and great songs. All the celebrity characters who lent their voices were amazing. We even met a few at the screening!

Hotel Transylvania hits theaters this Friday September 28,2012.

Disclosure: I received tickets to attend a screening and after party. All opinions expressed are 100% my own.

Back to School Again!

Today was the official first day back to school for New York city schools however my son attends a charter school so he started last week. He's officially a 1st grader and I'm loving it. I couldn't wait for school to start. I'm not a SAHM so I didn't have the privilege of spending the summer with my son. I had to work and he had to go to summer camp. He loved camp this summer which I'm grateful since it was a new one we were trying out. We were fortunate to go on vacation this year which was a major plus. I enjoy the routine of what school brings. My son has been so off schedule all summer. Playing games ridiculous amounts of time which he wouldn't normally be allowed to do. Its been a rough start this past week trying to get him back to reading every night and not grabbing the DS once he gets home. But he knows the rules and its an adjustment. For all of us. I look forward to what this new year will bring for him in learning and in his growth as a little boy.
