Little Pim Fun with languages DVD review

I was very excited when I was given the opportunity to review a foreign language dvd by Little Pim
My son will have Spanish class in school this year so I thought it was ideal to get a Spanish dvd to help him get started.
Little Pim is an award winning foreign language immersion DVD series for babies, toddlers and preschoolers. There are about 10 languages to choose from. They are winners of 22 awards including their most recent Tillywig Brain Child Award.
I received disc 2 of the Waking up smiling series. Little Pim is an adorable panda who guides you along in the DVD. The disc is 35 minutes broken down into seven 5 minute lessons. Each segment introduces new words showing the action that is being done by real people. No annoying music at all. It was easy for my son to understand what word was being taught. I love how at the end of each lesson, Little Pim will repeat each word again. My son enjoyed watching it and I enjoyed refreshing my knowledge of the language. Now I try to repeat those words throughout our day so to refresh his memory. My only personal gripe is that I waited so long to teach him another language.
However the DVD has become a great tool in easing him into learning Spanish. I HIGHLY recommend purchasing these DVDs if you are interested in having your child learn a second language. Little Pim has offered BoyzRuleOurWorld readers a 15% discount on their purchase by using code PIMMOMMY at checkout. Go here to find a language DVD for your child today. I'm sure you won't be disappointed in what your child will be saying in just a few weeks.

Disclosure: BoyzRuleOurWorld was given one Little Pim DVD for review. The opinions listed above are mine. Thank you to LittlePims for giving us this opportunity.

Seneca Farms Oatmeal & Fruit Review & Giveaway - CLOSED

As working parents, its always difficult to find time to create meals for our son especially in the morning when all 3 of us are rushing to get ready. I like to make sure that he eats a well balance breakfast to start his day. He loves oatmeal with fresh fruit but I never seem to have enough time to make it for him. Thankfully Seneca Farms has come to my rescue!
Seneca has created a 6 oz microwavable cup of oatmeal with either peaches or apples in it. There's no milk or water required! You just pop it in the microwave for 45 seconds and voila! A healthy, nutritious breakfast is served! It's that easy! My son's favorite is the apple cinnamon. It doesn't taste too sweet nor sugary. There are real fruit pieces in it too.

Did you know that....
  • Nearly 60% of U.S. parents of children ages 3-17 admit that their child skips breakfast, with more than half of U.S. Moms wishing their child ate a more nutritious breakfast.
  • 58% of U.S. Moms say they skip breakfast regularly. 46% of Moms who skip breakfast say they do so because they do not have enough time to prepare or eat it.
  • 57% of single adults say the number one reason they skip breakfast is that they don’t have enough time to prepare it.
  • While 71% of U.S. adults agree that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, 67% of those admit to skipping breakfast.
*Results of 2011 Children's Nutrition Survey, conducted by Harris Interactive for Seneca Farms

It is currently available at Walmart or look for your local retailer at http://www.senecasnacks.com/
I will be sure to stack up on these for our little guy. I'm comfortable knowing that will have a great start to his day.

I can't let go

I can hear my mom's voice in my head saying "Don't let him sleep in the bed with you. It's going to be hard to get him out later on." Well those words of wisdom are ones that I should've adhered to. Five years later, and my son still wedges himself between my husband and I every night. I don't think I can let go.
For 3 years my husband was away for law school, so my son's crib/bed was always in my room. As he got older, he slowly began to take over a side of my bed. I sometimes think it was more of a comfort for me rather than him. Having his little body next to me at night gave me a feeling of immediate joy. Now as he's gotten older, the foot in my back or intermittent slaps on my face have gotten uncomfortable. When he turned 5 last month, we purchased a new twin size bed and placed it in his own room. Of course, my wise little guy said he couldn't sleep in there yet because the room wasn't painted and we weren't finished setting it up. Well hubby has painted it today & in a few days it should be all set up.
But am I truly ready for the separation? Is this how parents feels once the kids head off to college? I have a feeling of anxiety about not having him near me while I sleep. I will no longer be able to stare at his little face & watch him sleep. I think this move will hurt me more than him. I'm looking forward to the space and the privacy that hubby & I will get but my heart breaks a little. This is just a step into my little boy's move to becoming a big boy. I don't know if I'm ready for it. AAhhhh the trials & tribulations of being a Mommy.

The Maine Camp Experience

One thing I know I have missed out in my childhood was attending sleep away camps. My older siblings got the chance to do it and they loved it. My son is only 5 years old right now, but my husband & I are contemplating sending him to a sleep away camp when he's about 8 or so. We would love for him to go out of state & just have the opportunity to meet new friends & experiences. After reading this article about finding the right camp, I am definitely getting prepared to find the right one for him.

Summer fun at Sesame Place

One of our favorite activities to do to beat this heat are waterparks. My son's favorite thus far is Sesame Place in Langhorne, Pa. I purchased season passes for ourselves this year hoping to get there often, however Friday was our first visit for the season.     Sesame never ceases to disappoint us.We went with a couple of our friends and their kids. The weather was perfect for lazying around in Big Bird's Rambling River or getting soaked in the Count's splash castle.
We caught the Elmo Rocks show which the kids loved. My son thinks he's a rocker with his guitar so seeing his favorite characters on stage performing as a band thrilled him! The new Neighborhood Street party parade was so beautiful and amazing. Their floats were colorful and everyone was there! We saw Cookie Monster, Oscar, Zoe and of course Bert & Ernie!
We had such a blast that we can't wait to take advantage of our passes and head back down there again. If you haven't been there before, be prepared. Charge up your camera battery and put on your swimsuit for a fun filled day with the kids. Take advantage of their great ticket offer going on. Buy one single day pass & get a 2nd day free with Elmo's any 2 day ticket offer.
Thank you Sesame Place for great memories! See you next month!
